The Word Wrangler

Okay that might be a little extreme, but it did save my butt.

I have one client that e-mails me Powerpoint files that contain branding and marketing information that I need to write copy. I have program that opens Powerpoint files, but it’s not a Microsoft product.

This client had me do up one of these branding blueprints for a customer and I sent it off. Problem was - they couldn’t open my file and they were having a meeting in a half an hour with their customer. That file was vital to the meeting.

I managed to pull my file into Google Docs, save it as a pdf and send it off in time for the meeting.

Everyone was happy - The Word Wrangler saved the day.

Even though I don’t give many kudos to big corporations like Google, this time, it’s well-deserved. If you don’t have an account with Google Docs you should consider it. It’s free and just might make you out to be a hero one of these days.
