Agnes on writing what you know

Today’s Agnes cartoon is pretty profound when it comes to helping you find your niche.

Each one of us has a wealth of life experience, passions, hobbies and other areas of expertise to draw from when targeting clients.

The real trick to finding your niche is to write what you know, not necessarily what you want to write. You may want to write novels, which is fine, but your true strength might lie in writing white papers or catchy ad copy.

The point is that while you shouldn’t give up your dream of writing that novel, if you want to make a living at writing, you need to find what you’re good at and then run with it.
